Mommy's News (Issue 4)

Today was another stable day for our son, and a rough one for Mom. Jonah never ceases to amaze us with this ability to fight for life. He has a very strong spirit. The day was rough on Mom because I'm home from the hospital and away from my baby. Even though it was hard to leave the hospital I have peace of mind knowing that he is in good hands and that the Lord is mindful of our situation. I must admit that it is really nice to be rid of the lovely hospital gown I'd wore for almost a week.

Another day down! Jonah has had a pretty uneventful day... and that is a really good thing! There were a number of good things that happened for us today. First, Jonah was able to end his first round of antibiotics because his little body has been able to beat his first infection. Second, the drainage tube in Jonah's chest, the one the doctors put in after his surgery, was taken out today. Third, they were able to start feeding Jonah Mommy's milk. He is getting .8 ml every 3 hours through a feeding tube. And last but certainly not least, Mommy was able to pick him up inside his Giraffe (that is what his special incubator is called). All in all it has been a good for all of us but we never know what tomorrow might bring.
