Mommy's News (Issue 192)
Things have gone from bad to worse. It has been a long and trying day today. Jonah has had very little sleep and very many POKES. I tease him that he is a human pin cushion. When I arrived at the hospital this morning I could tell that things weren't quite right. He has been running a fever again today and this time we can't blame it on the meds. At one point last night he had a seizure and the doctors now feel that it was caused by his high temperature. He had another small seizure today for the same reason. We spent an hour, 4 IV pokes, and 3 heel sticks, today trying to collect enough blood to do two blood cultures, a CBC, and a CRP. Then the doctors wanted to rule out meningitis so they attempted a lumbar puncture. After two attempts and a half hour they called it quits. Because they were unable to rule out meningitis the doctors wanted to put in a central line, PIC line, to administer antibiotics. Jonah has been poked too many times for this to be an easy proces...
