Mommy's Blog (Issue 37)
Well, today I had a day off school and I was able to spend it with our son. It was a good day for little Jonah. He is down on his vent settings again today and he received a blood transfusion. He continues to tolerate his feedings and he finally got to suck his thumb. He loves it! This evening when the nurse was getting ready to start his blood transfusion she called in the NICU phlebotomists to put in an IV. They arrived and were a little shocked to see such a tiny baby. They were a bit nervous to poke Jonah, and for good reason, he is a tough kid to start an IV on. The two phlebotomists felt terrible when the first 4 pokes didn't work. They were about to give up but then they gave it one more try and BINGO! They did it. Jonah was a tough little guy and sucked his thumb through the whole process.
