Mommy's News (Issue 73)
Jonah has had another great day. His feeds have continued to increase. By tomorrow he will be up to full feeds at 24 calories! The nurses pulled out Jonah's central line. It was no longer needed now that he has completed all of his antibiotics and is on mommy's milk again. He is nearly a cordless baby. The only thing he has left is the high flow nasal canula and a feeding tube, both of which are in his nose. Our NNP (nurse practitioner) gave us the go ahead to do nutritive nursing with Jonah today. That means that Jonah, should he choose to, could get his dinner straight from Mommy instead of a tube. He latched on a few times but had difficulty staying awake long enough to really eat. Mommy can defiantly relate! We will try again tomorrow.
