2 Brothers Layne

So Jonah is holding his head up like a big boy. The Developmental Specialist came to visit today to check his progression. Jonah was able to bring his head forward and backward. It took a little time but he was able to bring his head up or down in opposites of where his head was. It was fun to see Jonah so alert and awake today. We have learned by sad experience tha t one word has been left off of nursing. It is Practicing. We were told today that Jonah is still learning how to nurse and is continuing to practice to nurse. Jonah is able to suck from the breast, but not for very long, maybe 10 seconds at most then he needs a break. So we are waiting for the light to switch on for this challenge as well. It is amazing to see how one day Jonah doesn't know how to do something, then bang. He does it with perfection. Well, maybe not perfection but like an expert. Jonah is still doing well on his flow of 1.5. He is in the mid 40's on his oxygen levels, yet even a kick in...

Happy Day of Giving Thanks!!! What a wonderful day it was for our little family. Jonah is doing well. He had a great time with mommy today and did a wonderful job at sucking. I hope he doesn't take after his Grandpa Layne and turn into a big sucker!!! Ha ha ha. Just kidding Dad. Jonah is indeed doing well. He has been turned down on his flow to 1.5. One fun thing, well for a parent who has ever had a premie; when we arrived today we could smell Jonah's stinky diaper. I know most people would say, "So." Yet with Jonah that is another good sign that everything is starting work, even if it stinks. The time spent with Jonah tonight was very enjoyable. After we were finished holding him and took care of his needs, he laid awake staring at us alertly. As Jonah progresses in weeks toward his due date he will continue to amaze us with his progression towards coming home. it is fun to watch Jonah suck on his binki.
